Everyone wants to know your “why”
Why… because I want to do some good, it’s that simple. I could tell stories about how my father had a heart attack when I was a young kid in a Costco parking lot and would go on to have quadruple bypass surgery. I could ramble off statistics about the number one cause of death in America. I could easily site younger and younger kids and athletes falling victim to heart issues like never before seen. But honestly, it’s my turn to give back. I have been on a hiatus since serving on the American Cancer Society council in Sacramento and the board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. One of my mentors said “those that have the means should give back and do some good.” When I looked at doing the Capital Cup this year I thought, I’m too busy between three kids, work, moving, etc. I could go on and on but I took a step back and said I am blessed and I should absolutely step up and make some real change. So here I am asking all of you to jump on the bus with me and do some good. It’s hard to ask for money, but I also find it’s easier than asking for time these days. So throw in a couple shillings, Washington’s, or hey even some bitcoin and let’s go with this thing and get some problems solved!
Much love, JW
