You can join me in supporting Volunteers of America’s Family Shelter. Together we will give more families the tools they need to find their way out of homelessness and reach their full potential.

Families like Maria’s, who lived in her car for 2 years with her two teenage sons and their 10 year old sister. Maria says she was trying to do everything by herself, making sure her kids were taken care of while she worked to change her life. She felt desperate, but most shelters do not accept teenage boys and often the family is split which was not an option for Maria. Thankfully she learned Volunteers of America's family shelter is one of the only ones in Sacramento that allows teenage sons to live in the same program.

As a long time supporter of Volunteers of America I am passionate about the work they do to support families, especially families with teenage boys that often get separated and sent to a men's shelter. Their staff are equipped to offer the support as well as adequate living quarters for teenagers to continue their education and not worry about where they will sleep.

After living without any close family support, Maria says she finally has a family at Volunteers of America.

These stories are why I choose to give to the family shelter, and why I am participating in the Capital Cup 2021. Please join me in supporting families like Maria’s to thrive.
