Craig Freeman is proud to compete in this year's Capital Cup on behalf of FCA Greater Sacramento.

Craig believes in the power of sport to shape character, and that's exactly what drew him to Fellowship of Christian Athletes. FCA Greater Sacramento serves the "heart and soul" of the sports community across Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, and Yolo counties, meeting student-athletes and coaches where they are, on the field, in the gym, and in daily practice. Through campus Huddles, coach mentorship, summer camps, and youth sports leagues, FCA builds young people who lead with integrity, teamwork, and excellence long after the final whistle blows.

By playing in the Capital Cup, Craig is joining a field of local leaders competing not just for a trophy, but for the causes they care about most. Modeled after the Ryder Cup, the tournament pits two teams against each other in a three-day competition, with proceeds benefiting each golfer's chosen charity. The winning team's charities split a $100,000 prize fund, and the event has raised more than $18 million for Sacramento-region nonprofits since it began.

The Capital Cup adapts the historic Ryder Cup format—steeped in tradition—to promote community pride, healthy competition, and raise money for the Sacramento region’s most deserving charities. Each year, leaders from the Sacramento region are divided into two teams for an exciting 3-day golf competition. Donors have the opportunity to support their favorite player (or their favorite charity), as each player is competing to benefit his or her favorite charitable organization. The winning team's designated charities share a prize fund of $100,000! The tournament started with the ambitious goal of raising $250,000 in its first year. When it well surpassed that goal, the tournament committee raised the bar, and has continued to do so every year since—and every year, the participating golfers exceed expectations. The Capital Cup has raised more than $18 million over its history.
