Join me in supporting the zoo!
The Sacramento Zoo works to conserve endangered species, and educate the public about the challenges these animals face.
A BIG example of this is the zoo's Southern white rhinoceros, J. Gregory. The photo above is me and J. Gregory!
As a former board member at the zoo, I know the important work the zoo does in the conservation arena. The zoo partners with the International Rhino Foundation to support conservation efforts across the world. J. Gregory is an important ambassador for his wild counterparts, helping to inspire visitors to learn more, and care more about the wild world. The zoo participates in the Species Survival Plan for Southern white rhinos.
J. Gregory is just one of the hundreds of animals who help the zoo's human guests gain a greater appreciation for nature. Please help support the zoo's mission of inspiration, education, and conservation.
For nearly 100 years, the Sacramento Zoo has fostered a connection to the natural world for generations of children and adults. Over 50,000 school children visit the zoo annually on educational field trips, and hundreds of thousands of families enjoy the zoo each year. Staff provide uncompromising care for the animals, and work to conserve endangered species and habitats through partners around the world.
The Capital Cup adapts the historic Ryder Cup format—steeped in tradition—to promote community pride, healthy competition, and raise money for the Sacramento region’s most deserving charities. Each year, leaders from the Sacramento region are divided into two teams for an exciting 3-day golf competition. Donors have the opportunity to support their favorite player (or their favorite charity), as each player is competing to benefit his or her favorite charitable organization. The winning team's designated charities share a prize fund of $100,000! The tournament started with the ambitious goal of raising $250,000 in its first year. When it well surpassed that goal, the tournament committee raised the bar, and has continued to do so every year since—and every year, the participating golfers exceed expectations.
